- Stormers star Evan Roos has scooped the United Rugby Championship Player of the Season award.
- He was earlier also named the Players' Player of the Season, Fans' Player of the Season and Next-Gen Player of the Season, as well as being included in the URC Dream Team.
- Roos is also in the Springbok squad preparing to face Wales in a three-Test series next month.
Stormers No 8 Evan Roos has completed a dream tournament by bagging the inaugural United Rugby Championship Player of the Season award, which forms part of the annual SA Rugby Awards.
The 22-year-old, who was a star for the Stormers in their victorious URC campaign, fended off challenges from team-mate Warrick Gelant, Bulls duo Marcell Coetzee and Ruan Nortje, Lukhanyo Am (Sharks), and Vincent Tshituka (Lions).
The six finalists were decided by a media vote, as well as nominations from the coaching teams of the Springboks and South Africa's four participating franchises, and finally a voting process from supporters through sponsor Vodacom's digital channels.
It's been a memorable season for Roos, who had already scooped the Players' Player of the Season, Fans' Player of the Season and Next-Gen Player of the Season awards, as well as inclusion in the URC Dream Team.
"We are delighted for Evan and this award is well deserved given his form and consistency throughout the competition," Springbok coach Jacques Nienaber said in a statement.
"The fact that he received this honour in a competition featuring some of the best players in the northern hemisphere also shows the depth and quality of players we have in South Africa and especially young players."
