GREATER NOIDA: Two women have been arrested for allegedly running a prostitution racket from a house in Greater Noida. A third person, believed to be a customer, who was present there at the time of the raid, has also been arrested, police said on Thursday.
According to ACP-2 (Greater Noida) Mahendra Singh Dev, cops received a tip-off that a prostitution racket was being run from a house in the Ansal Golf Link area, following which a team of Beta 2 police raided the house. “Shoaib, a resident of the Ecotech-1 area, who allegedly came in contact with the two women through a website, was among three persons to be held,” Dev said.
Two mobile phones, a tablet, Rs 6,000 cash among other items have been recovered. “The women, it seems, provided escort services after contacting clients online. The duo had been active from the past 6-7 months,” the ACP said, adding a case was registered under the Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act, 1956, against the accused. Last month, the Noida police and the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit had busted an online sex racket and arrested two persons. Police had also recovered cash worth thousands of rupees.
