Award-winning TV host and broadcaster Anele Mdoda has joined SuperSport as the co-host of the channel's breakfast sports show, Super Saturday.
"I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to join the SuperSport family," Mdoda said in a press statement. "A giant that has been in my life since the M-Net decoder. Simply put, I'm on centre court, and it's at full capacity."
"I am looking forward to the evolution of Super Saturday, a show that brought a lot of sporting insight, but mostly, a lot of laughs."
Veteran sports host Neil Andrews will co-host the show with Mdoda. The first show will air on Saturday, 2 July.
Also in the statement, Andrews said he is delighted to be returning to Super Saturday. "I cannot wait to bring the show back. SuperSport viewers have been asking – some begging – for its return for many years, but what excites me most is that we now live in such an exciting new world where fans are consuming their content on multiple forms."
"While Super Saturday will deliver the quirky, irreverent tones of its super-successful predecessor, this reincarnation will showcase fresh faces and innovative content. I'm particularly excited about our SuperSaturTaxi inserts, which will allow viewers to get up-close and personal with some interesting guests aligned to each week's main event," he added.
The SuperSaturTaxi inserts will see Andrews interviewing big names in the world sport and entertainment industry while being chauffeured.
Though primarily studio-based, the show will, with exception, be broadcast from live events such as the upcoming Durban July and football final and rugby derbies.
Thato Moeng and Motshidisi Mohono will be the show's correspondents, while producers will rotate through varying experts based on the show's offerings. Pommie Mbangwa and Phumlani Msibi, who were part of the original Super Saturday, will also re-join the team.
