UDUPI: Byndoor police have arrested four persons in connection with a gold theft case reported on a private bus on June 16. The arrested accused are Ali Khan,31, Amzad Khan,33, Ikrar Khan,30, and Gopal Amlavar,35, who are all residents of Dhar district,
Madhya Pradesh.
Based on a tip-off, a police team arrested the accused near a toll gate in Dhule district of Maharashtra on June 19. Police have recovered 466.96 g of gold, worth an approximate Rs 18 lakh, which was stolen from on board the private bus, and seized a car, and the mobile phones of the accused.
In a complaint lodged by Eshwar Dalichand Porval, a businessman engaged in gold trading, by buying gold from Mumbai and selling it to dealers in Mangaluru and Hyderabad, he stated that gold was stolen from him, when he was travelling in a private bus from Mumbai to Mangaluru on June 16. When the bus halted at a hotel in Shiroor at 7.15am, for the passengers to have their breakfast, Eshwar alighted from the bus, after which the accused stole his suitcase, broke into it, and stole gold worth Rs 18 lakh, after which they fled in a car, leaving the damaged suitcase in the bus.
