Rajkot: Five held for robbery at petrol pump

RAJKOT: The Rajkot local crime branch (LCB) on Thursday arrested five persons who had allegedly looted Rs 1.30 lakh from a petrol pump in Pal village of Lodhika taluka in Rajkot three months ago.
The arrested persons include Mukesh Ganaya, a native of Madhya Pradesh; Naresh Navsingh Palash, Naresh Ramesh Palash, Moji Bhuriya and Vinod Palash, all from Dahod.
Ganaya was employed by a building contractor named Jitubhai, who was the friend of petrol pump owner Bhima Keswala. As Ganaya used to often go to the petrol pump for some errands, he knew where the cash was kept. Also, his salary was pending with the contractor.
Ganaya then roped in others who barged into the petrol pump office on March 13 around 3 am, thrashed the manager and escaped with the cash.
V V Odedara, inspector, Rajkot LCB said most of the arrested persons have a criminal past and they were caught earlier for thefts, loot and under the Arms Act.
