SRINAGAR: Around 25 tourists stranded near Sinthan Road following snow avalanches were rescued by authorities in south Kashmir's Anantnag district on Wednesday, officials said.
“Under the supervision of DC Anantnag, a joint rescue operation was launched by the administrations of sub-division Kokernag and sub-division Chatroo on Wednesday at around 11 am. During this, half a dozen vehicles carrying 25 tourists, locals and supplies stuck near Sinthan Top road were rescued," an official said.
“Revenue officials and SHOs of both the sides closely monitored the situation with the Army's 19 RR on standby," he added.
The road was blocked due to the avalanches triggered by fresh snowfall.
