278 new Covid cases in Gurugram, positivity rate falls to 6%

GURUGRAM: The city reported 278 new cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday, a dip of 28.5% from the previous day. The daily positivity rate has also come down from 9.7% to 6.09%.
The number of active cases too has decreased to 1,450. Of the, 28 are hospitalised. Hospitalisations, however, saw a slight rise from 22 on Tuesday to 28 on Wednesday, officials of the health department said.
The maximum number of cases in June were reported in Chanderlok (1,315), followed by Tigra (779), Wazirabad (561), Badshapur (408), Ghata village (377) and Bhangrola (297).
According to the health department data, the city reported 5,781 cases from June 1 to June 22. An official said that the private and government healthcare institutions tested 4,562 people in the last 24 hours. Moreover, 511 people recovered on Wednesday.
“New cases have gone down today (Wednesday), however, the number is still expected to rise in the coming days. The residents will have to be cautious while stepping out of their homes. They should wear masks and avoid large gatherings and stick to Covid-appropriate behaviour,” said Dr Virender Yadav, chief medical officer. At present, there are five micro-containment zones in the city.
However, the government and private healthcare institutions vaccinated 2,940 people on Wednesday, of whom 2,053 are people in the age group of 18 to 59 years, who got their booster doses, and 133 children in the age group of 12 to 14 years. Moreover, 409 people aged above 18 years also got inoculated and 156 people aged above 60 got their booster doses.
527 cases reported in Hry, Vij tests +ve for 2nd time
Haryana reported 527 new cases of Covid on Wednesday. The state’s positivity rate now stands at 4.01% and it currently has 2,861 active cases. According to the health bulletin, 13,787 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in Haryana. One Covid death was reported on Panchkula. The last time the state reported a Covid fatality was on May 11.
There are 2,861 active cases in Haryana now, of which 70 are hospitalised. Gurugram reported the maximum cases, followed by 57 cases from Faridabad. 41 from Panchkula, 24 from Hisar, 21 from Karnal, 16 from Kurukshetra, 15 cases each from Jind and Panipat and 14 cases each from Sonipat and Ambala districts.
Nine cases were reported from Rohtak, followed by six from Bhiwani district. Three cases each were reported from Yamuanangar, Fatehabad, Kaithal and Palwal. Two cases were reported from Rewari and one case each was reported from Sirsa, Jhajjar and Charkhi Dadri. On the vaccination front, 21,025 were given jabs in the state on Wednesday. A total of 1.277 people got their first doses, while 7,043 were given their second doses. Booster doses were administered to 12,705 recipients.
