He's a Hollywood heartthrob to the world, but after living a highly publicised life, Brad Pitt has found a way to remove himself from the limelight.
The actor is the August cover star of GQ magazine and opened up about how his life has changed nearly six years since his difficult divorce from Angelina Jolie.
One thing Pitt has prioritised since the split is his health.
"I had a really cool men's group here that was really private and selective, so it was safe," the actor shared of his Alcohol Anonymous group.
In addition to giving up alcohol, Pitt also gave up smoking during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Pitt's cover story also features the actor sharing his lifelong feelings of loneliness. "I always felt very alone in my life," he explained to the magazine.
"Alone growing up as a kid, alone even out here, and it's really not till recently that I have had a greater embrace of my friends and family. What's that line? It was either Rilke or Einstein, believe it or not, but it was something about when you can walk with the paradox, when you carry real pain and real joy simultaneously, this is maturity, this is growth."
The Lost City actor's professional life has changed just as much as his personal life. Opening up about how his career has changed over the years, Pitt revealed that he has become more selective about what he signs on to.
"I consider myself on my last leg, this last semester or trimester," he said before posing the question, "What is this section going to be? And how do I want to design that?"
His selective taste includes acting roles and producing – something he has leaned more toward in recent years. With his production company, Plan B Entertainment, he admitted that the experience is "gratifying in new and different ways."
