PATNA: While the RJD and three Left parties marched to Raj Bhavan on Wednesday against the Centre’s Agnipath scheme, Congress was conspicuous by its absence.
Congress and RJD have parted ways is reflected in the political events organised by the opposition camp in the state. Congress was nowhere when RJD and the Left released a report card on the state government’s performance led by chief minister Nitish Kumar. Congress at that time said it had not been invited to the event.
However, regarding Wednesday march, Congress state spokesperson Rajesh Rathorre said they had already led such a march previous week and submitted a memorandum to the governor.
“Our leaders had met the governor on the Agnipath issue as well as the misuse of ED by the Centre. What RJD did today, we did a week back. We are together on the issues related to public interest, but there is no need to repeat an act,” said Rathorre.
RJD spokesperson Chitranjan Gagan said Congress was no longer a part of the Mahagathbandhan and that’s why it was not invited for the march. “They (Congress) have left the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar, we have not ousted them,” Gagan added.
