Many schools in several districts are already closed due to the floods.
Every school kid looks forward to the summer vacation with joy and immense happiness. Recently, though, summer vacations in many places have been curtailed to make up for the academic loss faced during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Assam usually declares summer vacation in the first week of July, but this year it is being announced a bit early. Examinations being held in many schools will end this Saturday, after which all schools will remain closed from June 25 to July 25 for summer vacation.

The flood situation in the state is also among the reasons why the vacation is being brought forward this year. Many schools in several districts are already closed due to the floods. Schools have become relief camps where thousands of people are taking shelter.

Earlier, Gauhati University decided to postpone all the PG exams of the University and all its affiliated colleges due to the flood situation. As per the university, once the situation gets better, new dates will be announced.

Earlier, the exams were scheduled to be held on June 21 and 22, but now after the postponement of the exam dates, a new circular regarding the new exam dates will be soon announced by the University.

The Education Minister of Assam, Ranoj Pengu, has asked all the private schools to follow the vacation order. Summer vacation in the state is to be announced for all elementary, secondary, higher secondary and senior secondary schools.

Last year, due to the devastating second wave of Covid-19, the Assam government had declared summer vacation in May.

The other states that have declared summer vacation 2022:
Due to the rising temperature and heat waves, the Education Department of Jammu announced summer vacation for all the schools, colleges, and Universities from June 6.

The Punjab government announced summer vacation from June 1 to June 30, keeping in mind the scorching heat.

The Education board of Haryana also announced a long summer break commencing from June 1 in all the private and government schools.
