BJP leaders call on AIADMK’s EPS and OPS in Chennai

CHENNAI: BJP national general secretary C T Ravi and state party chief K Annamalai on Thursday called on AIADMK leaders Edappadi K Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam in their respective residences in Chennai to seek their support for the upcoming presidential election.
The meeting took place hours after AIADMK’s general council meeting where high drama prevailed. The two leaders and their supporters locked horns over the single leadership issue.
The BJP leaders first called EPS, who were flanked by senior party leaders and former ministers like D Jayakumar, K P Munusamy and K A Sengottaiyan. Later, they called on OPS. R Vaithilingam and Manoj Pandian were present on the occasion.

Senior BJP leaders said the meeting was for seeking support for the presidential election and that it has nothing to do with the AIADMK’s internal party issues. They sought the support of the AIADMK for NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu in the presidential election.
