CHENNAI: Commuters faced a tough time as vehicles of AIADMK workers were parked in a haphazard manner on roadsides near the venue of party’s general council meeting at Vanagaram in Chennai on Thursday.
Lack of organised parking space has led to confusion. Many AIADMK workers left their vehicles, mostly sports utility vehicles, parked on roadsides and in front of shops and walked to the venue located around one km away. The crowd of AIADMK workers walked on the road leaving little space for the commuters.
Traffic piled up for about 1.5 km on Chennai-Bengaluru National Highway.
“If all these people take over the roads to walk, where do we drive our vehicles? The situation remains the same for nearly three hours and police are not taking any effort to streamline this,” said Krishna, a biker.
