Chandigarh: Several shops gutted in furniture market fire

CHANDIGARH: A massive fire broke out in the furniture market at Sector 56 in Chandigarh on Wednesday afternoon.
Around a dozen fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the blaze that gutted several shops.
Though the exact damage to the shops and articles due to the fire is yet to be ascertained, sources revealed that around a dozen of furniture shops are heavily damaged in the fire and efforts are on to douse the flames.
The police have sealed the area.
There have been similar incidents of fire at the furniture market in the past and shopkeepers have been demanding booths for them, but the Chandigarh administration has yet to take a decision.
