  • Thousands of people were left homeless after the devastating floods in April.

Multimillionaire businesswoman, reality TV star, and socialite Shauwn 'Mam'Mkhize' Mkhize relieved the plight of destitute KZN flood victims when she donated furnished houses.

In a post on social media, Mkhize said Monday was a good day. "I spent the morning together with the eThekwini Municipality in Wye bank to hand over three houses that we, as Zikhulise Group and ROYAL AM, donated to families that were severely affected by the floods in April."

The soccer club owner also noted that while more still needed to be done to rebuild KwaZulu-Natal, it was important to highlight the progress made and celebrate the small wins.

She also thanked the local municipality for providing resources to complete the houses. "Thank you to eThekwini Municipality for the quick implementation of land water and electricity in response to the flood victims."

In another post, Mkhize called on other business people to lend a helping hand. She also said that more houses for those who were affected were in the pipeline.

In a briefing in April, KZN premier Sihle Zikalala said the floods affected 17 438 households and 121 687 people. At the time, 435 people were confirmed dead, 55 injured, 54 missing, and 6 278 homeless.
