Mysuru: Scores of foreign nationals performed yoga along with Prime Minister
Narendra Modi in front of the Mysuru Palace during the International Day of Yoga celebrations on Tuesday.
They univocally expressed great happiness on receiving the opportunity to be part of the historic event. For most of them, the yoga day celebration is new, and they observed that performing yoga along with a big crowd is an instant energy boost and gives a special feeling.
Chokri Mansoor, a travel agent and a resident of Tunisia, is one of the foreign nationals who performed yoga with Modi. He participated in a rehearsal to make sure that he is in sync with the Ayush ministry’s yoga protocol. “I am very satisfied,” Chokri told TOI.
“It was a nice experience to perform yoga in the IDY event. The event was organised very well,” he added. Chokri, who is also a yoga teacher, is here to participate in a 300-hours yoga teacher course.
Olivia, a yoga practitioner from the UK said she was thrilled with the programme. “I am aware of the yoga events. But all were small events and gatherings. But this is a big event. Performing yoga among the big crowd gives a special feeling, and energy,” she said. She also stated that yoga day celebrations are making the practice popular everywhere.
Andras from Hungary is here in the city to learn yoga. “This is a big event. It is my first yoga event and I liked it,” he said.
Andras said he had not heard about about the International Day of Yoga (IDY) until recently. An aspiring yoga teacher, he will be here till the end of July.
