Thiruvananthapuram: Two SIs of Parassala station injured in SFI-ABVP clash

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two sub-inspectors of Parassala police station were injured during a clash erupted between the SFI students of VTM NSS College and ABVP students of IHRD Institute in Dhanuvachapuram on Tuesday.
The sub-inspectors, Bipin Vas and Velappan Nair, were injured while trying to prevent them from attacking each other.

They were admitted to a hospital and later discharged. Police said the officers were attacked by SFI students.
The clash erupted over an argument on the entry of a few SFI students from VTM NSS College to the IHRD Institute. Their unauthorized entry was questioned by ABVP students of the institute. Later, the ABVP students were stopped outside the college by SFI students and further arguments led to a clash.
Students pelted stones at each other and the car of the principal of the IHRD institute was damaged .
After being informed by the college authorities, Parassala police rushed to spot and dispersed them.
Police have registered three cases on the incident, one against SFI activists for assaulting the police officers and the second on the complaint given by the IHRD institute principal against the unauthorized entry into the college and damaging college properties and his car. The third case was registered against the SFI and ABVP activists for rioting, unlawful assembly and damaging public property.
Police have not yet arrested anyone in the case.
