Jaipur: The International Day of Yoga in the state was a lacklustre event for the state government with chief minister Ashok Gehlot and ministers away in Delhi to participate in the agitation against the ED questioning
Rahul Gandhi. No official functions were held in Jaipur. The weather has also acted as a dampener with the morning rain forcing the people indoors.
Though the high court administration has given a call to the judges, and former judges to attend the yoga programme, the judges gave a miss to the programme held at the high court in Jaipur.
However, the governor, central government departments, and Union ministers participated in the yoga programmes organised at various places.
Governor Kalraj Mishra performed yoga asanas with officers and employees of the Raj Bhavan and said the ancient practice is integral to holistic well-being. He said that yoga not only keeps the body healthy but also keeps the mind positive. Since ancient times, Mishra said, yoga has been integral to physical, mental and spiritual well-being.
Union parliamentary affairs and culture minister Arjun Ram Meghwal performed yoga at Jantar Mantar in Jaipur. The programme was organised at Jantar Mantar under the coordination of the Indian Archaeological Survey department, National Institute of Ayurveda, Veda Swadhyaya Peeth Sansthan and 126th Battalion of BSF, Jaipur.
PM Modi also joined live in the yoga programme held in Jaipur from Mysore.

BJP also celebrated International Yoga Day in a big way. Former chief minister Vasundhara Raje posted a picture of herself doing yoga alone at her residence.
BJP state president Satish Poonia participated in a yoga programme organised by Patanjali Yogpeeth at SMS Stadium at 6.30 am. A Yoga Day program me was organized by the Municipal Corporation Jaipur Greater at 7.30 am at Sanganer Stadium in Jaipur in which Poonia along with Jaipur city BJP leaders and a large number of sanitation workers took part. Many voluntary organisations also organised yoga programmes in parks and gardens.
