KOLKATA: The Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) plans to start its dengue control drive across 41 wards from July 1, with door-to-door surveys that will be GPS tagged to help civic authorities keep track of people who are suffering from fever. BMC MMiC (health) Banibrata Banerjee said till now there was no report of any significant occurrence of dengue cases in BMC area. “The dengue season starts after the onset of monsoon. We have already started conducting mosquito control drives throughout the year and it will be intensified from July 1,” Banerjee said.
BMC will also take a larvae detection and cleaning up drive in different institute premises and spray larvicide. BMC have also started collecting mosquito larvae samples to know the species and find what larvicide would be best effective.
