Mumbai, Jun 22: Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari was admitted to a private hospital in Mumbai after he tested Coronavirus positive, an official told news agency ANI.
He has been admitted to the Reliance Foundation Hospital. "Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari admitted to HN Reliance Foundation hospital, Mumbai today for COVID-19 treatment, " sources informed the news agency.
"I have been tested positive for COVID -19. There are only mild symptoms. However I have been admitted to a Hospital as a precautionary measure," the Governor confirmed the news of him testing COVID-19 positive.
The official added that 80-year-old Koshyari always sported masks at public events.
The development comes at a time when Maharashtra is witnessing political turmoil as Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde, along with several other MLAs, on Tuesday went incommunicado and landed in Guwahati this morning by a charter aircraft.
Following the Maharashtra political crisis, rebel Shiv Sena minister Eknath Shinde was expected to meet Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari claiming of having the support of 40 legislators.
The revolt in the Shiv Sena has given rise to speculations that Shinde along with other MLAs might join the BJP in a bid to topple the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.
