HYDERABAD: The heavy rain late on Monday night in Hyderabad and Rangareddy has wiped away the shower deficit in the state, with the overall rainfall now 90 mm, which is in excess of the normal 85mm for the period June 1-June 21.
Heavy rains are likely in the next two days across the state and after that for the next 5-6 days it is likely to abate, the Indian Meteorological Department (Hyderabad) said on Tuesday. Overall, the monsoon until now has been vigorous over Telangana, the Met department said.
The downpour on Monday night in the city was heaviest in Madhapur (10cm till 1 am) and the city’s stock of rain was at 63.4 mm till June 21. Later on Tuesday moderate rains were recorded in south east parts of the city.
“Current cloud systems don’t suggest any major showers. But if there is any depression forming in the
Bay of Bengal, the state could get heavy rains,” said an official.
