AHMEDABAD: Grand Master Tejas Bakre has become the first ever Fide senior trainer from Gujarat.
He is only the seventh Indian to achieve this title after GM
Vishwanathan Anand, GM Praveen Thipsay, International Master (IM) Sekhar Sahu, IM Lanka Ravi, IM Vishal Sareen and GM Ramesh RB. After Bakre, Abhijite Kunte recently became the eighth Indian to be given this award.
Fide senior trainer is the highest title chess trainers can achieve. On winning the award, Bakre said, “It is a recognition of training achievements in my career and my contribution to the game. I’m thankful to World Chess Federation for awarding this title. I’m very happy to achieve this feat of having both the highest titles by Fide.”
Big win for SPCT ‘B’: SPCT ‘B’ defeated Gandhinagar Sport Academy (GSA) by a whopping 136 runs in their match at SPCT U-12 Cricket Tournament in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. Batting first, SPCT ‘B’ scored 274 for nine in 50 overs. Sneh Patel (58) and Hetarth Chaudhari (51) shone with the bat for SPCT ‘B’. Yug Patel took three for 67, while Ragav Chavda two for 48.Chasing a target of 275, GSA were all out for 138 in 40.2 overs with only Meet Yagnik (28) and Karv Patel (20) putting up some fight. For SPCT ‘B’, Dishant Lathigara took three for 15, while Shaurya Prajapati and Hetarth took two wickets each. Hetarth was declared man of the match.
