Kim Kardashian has addressed claims that she ruined Marilyn Monroe's iconic Happy Birthday dress.

The Skims founder stopped by the Today show to talk about her new skin product range but took a minute to discuss her 2022 Met Gala outfit.

Kardashian turned heads last month when she appeared at the event in the skin-tight dress the screen siren wore to serenade then-president John F. Kennedy on his birthday in 1962. However, the reality TV star was criticised after pictures showing tears in the dress and missing crystals surfaced online.

The Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum – which owns the dress and loaned it out to Kardashian – has since denied the rumours, saying that The Kardashians star was never alone with the dress.

Chatting to Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie during an episode that aired on Tuesday, Kardashian echoed Ripley's statement by saying, "We worked together so well. There were handlers and gloves that put it on me."

Kardashian further detailed her experience, saying, "It was such a process. I showed up to the red carpet in a robe and slippers, and I put the dress on, on the bottom of the carpet."

The mom-of-four adds that she immediately took the dress off when she got to the top of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute's stairs.

"I probably had it on for 3 minutes, 4 minutes, and then I changed right at the top of the stairs."
