Man commits suicide after dispute with his in-laws

Ludhiana: Allegedly humiliated by relatives of his ex-wife, a 30-year-old man committed suicide by consuming poison at Behlolpur village of Machhiwara on Tuesday. Before that, he recorded a video on his mobile phone and sent it to his brother.
The victim has been identified as Gurdeep Singh of Rosda village, Noorpur Bedi. He had gone to Machhiwara to see his 3-year-old son, who lives with his maternal grandparents. His ex-wife had gone to Canada two months ago.
A case has been registered on the statement of the victim’s father Jaswant Singh. He said that Gurdeep got married to Ranjit Kaur in 2018 and they had a son. The couple divorced one year ago but Gurdeep used to visit Ranjit’s house to meet his son.
The complainant alleged that when Gurdeep went to meet his son, he recorded a video on his mobile phone saying that the family of his ex-wife deterred him from seeing the child and humiliated him. He also alleged that his ex-wife wanted to live with him, but divorced him under pressure of her family.
When his father received the video, he rushed to Behlolpur and found his son lying unconscious near the PSPCL office. They rushed him to the hospital, where he died.
