Jaipur: NWR steps up security at stations in wake of agitations and vandalism across state

JAIPUR: The North Western Railway has increased security measures at all railway stations across the region in view of the recent protests against Agnipath recruitment scheme of the Indian Army. A few railway stations in NWR region have witnessed vandalism also, said officials. Officials took out a march and inspected major railway stations in all the divisions late on Sunday night and Monday morning.
Over 20 trains have been cancelled in this region due to the protest in the past one week. Captain Shashi Kiran, chief public relations officer of the NWR said that Railway Protection Force is constantly working with civil police to track if any rallies or groups of gathering are being organised near stations or tracks and based on that information decisions like regulating the timings of trains or whether they would be cancelled all together are being taken.
“In the centralised control offices, officials have been deployed to monitor the situation round the clock. At all major stations and junctions, officers have been deployed 24X7 to report any abnormality and real-time situations, all trackmen or patrol men are on full alert to keep a check on miscreant activities, if any, taking place on railway tracks. No such activity has been reported today from the region,” said the official.
