NEW DELHI: India reported 9,923 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, maintaining its declining streak over the last three days, according to the health ministry data updated on Tuesday.
The number of new Covid cases saw a substantial decline after reporting a high of over 13,000 cases on June 18 in the latest surge last week. This is the first time in the last five days that the country has reported less than 10,000 cases, even as the number of active cases rose to 79,313, which is 0.18% of the total caseload, the
ministry of health and family welfare data showed. There has been a rise of 2,613 cases in the active caseload in the last 24 hours as compared to the previous day.
The number of deaths in the last 24 hours too came down to 17, the ministry of health and family welfare data showed. With this the total death toll reached 5,24,890, with a fatality rate of 1.21%.
Also, 7,293 people recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 4,27,15,193. Current recovery rate in the country is at 98.61%.
At present, India's daily positivity rate is 2.55% while weekly positivity rate is 2.67% at present.
Meanwhile, with 13,00,024 vaccinations in the last 24 hours, the total vaccination number has reached 1,96,32,43,003, as per the ministry’s provisional reports till 7 am on Tuesday. This has been achieved through 2,53,58,263 sessions, said the report.
More than 3.58 crore adolescents have been administered with the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine so far since starting the vaccination for the 12-14 years age group on March 16, 2022.
Similarly, 4,19,12,955 people in the 18-59 years age group have received the precaution dose so far since its administration began on April 10, 2022.
The MoHFW said that more than 193.53 crore vaccine doses have been provided to the states/Union territories so far through the Government of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category, of which over 12.53 crore balance and unutilised doses are still available.
Also 3,88,641 tests were done during the previous day, with 85.85 crore total tests so far.
