MUMBAI: A string of politicians, including ex-state home minister Anil Deshmukh, Shiv Sena member and transport minister Anil Parab, deputy CM Ajit Pawar and NCP MP
Supriya Sule had recommended the transfer-posting of police officers, said ex-Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh in his statement to CBI.
His statement has been annexed to the chargesheet submitted against Deshmukh, his personal secretary Sanjeev Palande and PA Kundan Shinde before a special court recently. Copies of the chargesheet were handed over to the accused on Monday. CBI sought mandatory sanction of prosecution of Deshmukh and Palande (additional collector) which, it said, is awaited.
Singh was part of the police establishment board that would decide about such postings. The other politicians whose names Singh has mentioned include revenue minister Balasaheb Thorat, Sena member and industries minister Subhash Desai, Jayant Patil, Rajesh Tope, Aslam Shaikh and Nawab Malik.
There were no allegations that these transfer postings had been done for any consideration.
Singh said postings and transfers of officers were done arbitrarily after overlooking seniority and merit criteria where he mentioned about posting of two IPS officers. He had not specified if money was exchanged for these transfer-postings.
He also said Deshmukh instructed now dismissed cop Sachin Waze on collecting Rs 100 crore from orchestra bar owners. He said he had informed NCP chief
Sharad Pawar, CM Uddhav Thackeray, Ajit Pawar, Anil Parab and Jayant Patil about Deshmukh’s misdeeds. He said the CM and his son Aaditya had asked for Waze’s reinstatement.
