Chennai Hospital case: Cops to arrest 11 hired goons, advocate

Coimbatore: The CB-CID police are planning to arrest 11 hired goons and an advocate who forcibly drove out inpatients and staff of Ellen Hospital at Gandhipuram in the city on December 4, 2020, and took control of the hospital with the help of city crime branch (CCB) police officials.
Meanwhile, Ellen Hospital managing director Ramachandran, his associate Dr Kamaraj and three accomplices were produced before the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court on Monday morning, after the five days of police custody. The CJM remanded them in judicial custody till July 4, 2022.
According to sources, an advocate played a vital role in taking over the control of Chennai Hospital. “We learned that the advocate arranged the hired goons to take over the possession of the hospital. We suspect that Dr Ramachandran has spent more than Rs 30 lakh to take over the hospital building under his control. Later, he obtained an order in favour of him from a civil court,” the sources said.
The sources said Chennai Hospital managing director Dr Umashankar had failed to pay the rental amount of more than Rs 1 crores to Dr Ramachandran who issued notices twice. Dr Umashankar had an opportunity to sell the shares of the hospital. Before he moved to sell the shares of the hospital, Dr Ramachandran decided to take over the control of the hospital. So, he had sent the hired goons and took over the control of the hospital.
