Transport, businesses unaffected in Hubballi

Hubballi: The Bharat bandh called by various organisations against the central Agnipath defence recruitment scheme received no effective response in Hubballi city on Monday.
The commissioner of police deployed personnel in the wee hours of Monday and commercial establishments in Hubballi operated as usual. Transport, banking services and government offices functioned and educational and commercial activities were normal. The city remained peaceful .
Sahil Bagla, the deputy commissioner of law and order, said that in Dharwad, five people were detained when they were going to Belagavi to join a protest. “After routine procedure and warnings, the five were released,” he said.
