Troops to celebrate occasion on Jaisalmer’s sand dunes

JAISALMER: The Ayush Ministry and BSF will jointly organise the 8th International Yoga Day at Sam sand dunes in Jaisalmer as part of the Amrit Mahotsava International Yoga Day, which is being celebrated at 75 heritage places in the entire country this year.
Union Jal Shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will take part in the events at the Sam sand dunes and will practice yoga. More than 500 BSF personnel, a large number of personnel from Indian Army and Indian Air Force, representatives of various NGOs and the local public will take part in this event.
BSF officers said that all administrative and security related preparations have been completed for the International Yoga Day events at the Sam sand dunes. BSF jawans also did a rehearsal for the event and practiced yoga at several border outposts and places of historical importance.
BSF has been practicing yoga at historical buildings, sand dunes and near the Indo-Pak fencing. BSF’s 92nd, 108th and 191st battalions and others practiced yoga for the International Yoga Day at many border outposts and at historical places.
“As a precursor to the International Yoga Day on June 21, multiple Yoga sessions were organised at various locations under the Battle Axe Division in Jaisalmer. The spirited officers and jawans of the Indian Army defending the western borders got together to synergise their mind and body through yoga. The yogasanas were carried out on the golden dunes of the Thar desert in forward areas of Laungewala and Tanot by personnel of both Indian Army and BSF. The motivated troops practiced yoga with full gusto and resolve at Kishangarh with a beautiful fort standing tall in the background,” said defence spokesman Lt Col Ajitabh Sharma.
