NAVI MUMBAI: A tree lover, Madhu Shankar, has complained to the Koparkhairane ward office about a shocking tree fall just outside the gate of Reliance Foundation School in Sector 14 in Navi Mumbai.
"This huge green tree outside the school gate was at least 20 years old. It was found fallen yesterday and then immediately cut into pieced with a machine. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation officials said they will inquire into it,'' said Shankar.
The Koparkhairane ward officer Prashant Gawde said that the preliminary report states that the tree fell down during rains on Monday; however, further inquiry will be done on this issue.
RTI activist Anarjit Chauhan said: "How the tree was uprooted during the rains can be studied from a nearby CCTV footage. Sometimes, heavy concretization around the base of the tree can also make it unbalanced."
