GURUGRAM: The city on Monday recorded 463 new Covid cases, a 45% rise from the previous day when it had 319 cases. With this, the positivity rate rose to 10.2% from 7.2% on Sunday.
There are 1,778 active cases in Gurugram currently, of which 11 patients are hospitalised. On Monday, the health department conducted 4,541 tests.
“We are witnessing a rise which will continue for another 15 days. People need to be careful as changes in the weather condition will spread the infection faster,” Virender Yadav, chief medical officer, said.
The city has recorded 5,110 cases this month so far.
Dr Arunesh Kumar – HoD and senior consultant, pulmonology, Paras Hospital, said, “Approximately 40% of the infected people are asymptomatic. Covid vaccinations, masks, physical distancing, handwashing, and staying at home when unwell, go a long way in reducing new infections.”
Six Covid deaths, positivity rate 10% on lower testing
Delhi reported six deaths due to Covid-19 on Monday, though the number of daily new cases dropped marginally to 1,060 following a dip in the test count. The positivity rate stood at 10.09%. The last time Delhi registered more than five deaths in a single day was on February 24.
According to the daily health bulletin of the Delhi government, the test count on Sunday stood at only 10,506. The city logged 1,530 new cases on Sunday with a positivity rate of 8.41% and three deaths.
