A man allegedly murdered his girlfriend hours after being released on bail for threatening her.
Mmapula Maria Letsoalo, 40, was murdered in Mankweng in Limpopo on Sunday at around 23:30.
She had opened a case against her boyfriend, Matome Shadrack Matlakala, 47, after he allegedly threatened to shoot her, said police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo.
"The pair apparently got into a heated argument, and the man thereafter threatened to shoot the woman with his firearm. The suspect was arrested and charged on Sunday but was released on bail hours later," said Mojapelo.
After his release, Matlakala allegedly went to the victim's home in Ga-Kgole village and shot her dead before driving off.
He appears to have killed himself after the incident and was later found dead with a gunshot wound at his home in Ga-Makanye village. A firearm was found next to his body.
A case of murder and an inquest were opened for police investigation, said Mojapelo.
