JAIPUR: The average wage under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) has touched an all-time high of Rs 190.89 (per day per person) in the state, data received from NREGA portal stated.
In 2021-22, the average wage rate in Rajasthan was Rs 182.62; in 2020-21, it was Rs 169.51; Rs 144.87 in 2019-20 and Rs 137.24 in 2018-19.
The officials of the department say strict monitoring of activities at the district, panchayat samiti and gram panchayat level has resulted in high average wage rate in Rajasthan. “It is also because the minimum wage rate for the state was increased from Rs 221 to Rs 231. So, there was a hike in the average wage rate by Rs 10 in a natural way,” said K K Pathak, secretary, rural development department.
“Also, we have topped the country in the implementation of the National Mobile Monitoring System (NMMS) launched by the centre. Apart from routine checks, the number of inspections of NREGA work have also increased. That’s why we can see such a difference. Because of the app, irregularities in the registration of attendance have stopped to a large extent,” he said.
A labour budget of 24 crore was sanctioned for the financial year 2022-23. So far, 7.57 crore persondays have been generated in the state.
