MYSURU: The Mysuru Palace has been taken over by the Mysuru City police ahead of the International Day of Yoga celebrations.
Since the palace has been chosen for mass yoga demonstration as part of the IDY celebration which will be attended by Prime Minister
Narendra Modi on Tuesday, the Special Protection Group personnel will manage the security. They are scanning the areas along with the assistance of
Karnataka police as 15,000 participants are expected to take part in the demonstration.
Mysuru Palace Board deputy director TS Subramanya said the tourist spot, which is closed for visitors since Sunday, will be reopened for tourists on Tuesday noon. The place is closed owing to security reasons, he said.
Meanwhile, Ayush minister
Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday visited the Dasara Exhibition Grounds in Doddakere where an exhibition has been organised as part of IDY celebrations. The minister, who checked into the city on Sunday, visited the palace and supervised the preparations. He visited Doddakere and took a tour of the exhibition and supervised the preparations with the Karnataka Exhibition Authority chief Hemanth Kumar.
