PATNA: A man, who had gone to the Barh court to testify in his son's murder case, was shot dead near Athmalgola on his way back home in
Patna district on Monday afternoon. His second son Dharmendra Kumar (30) also sustained gunshot injuries and was undergoing treatment at the Barh sub-divisional hospital. The deceased was identified as Lakshmi Narayan Singh (65) of Sirsi village under Bakhtiyarpur police station area.
Barh ASP Arvind Pratap Singh said one accused had been identified and raids wereon to nab him. The police sent the body for postmortem. Four empty cartridges were recovered from the spot.
The incident took place at Badhiya Dhang under Athmalgola police station area. Two bike-borne miscreants followed them from the court and shot him thrice in his chest. He died on way to the hospital. His son sustained one bullet injury in the neck.
"Based on the statement of Dharmendra, a complaint has been lodged against two persons, including one Sonu of Sirsi village. The accused's brother is in jail for allegedly killing Dharamvir Kumar, the son of the deceased. Dharmendra has recognized Sonu as his face was not covered like his accomplice," SHO Rajiv Ranjan Singh told TOI. "The deceased was the eyewitness in Dharamvir murder case about two years ago. The father-son duo had gone to the court for the case proceedings. "
