Dumka: Teams from the CID and the state forensics department on Sunday investigated the Deoghar court premises where Amit Kumar Singh, an undertrial prisoner, was shot dead by miscreants in broad daylight on Saturday.
"The CID team, led by the DSP Sandeep Kumar and other forensic experts from Dumka, recreated the crime scene and collected samples of blood and other items from the spot and along the escape route of the assailants," Deoghar SP Subhash Chandra Jat said.
Jat added that a country-made pistol and four live cartridges were recovered from the crime scene.
“One of the assailants had fallen on the ground while being in a hurry to escape and left behind the pistol," SP said, adding that the CID would only assist the ongoing police investigation.
Singh, brought from Beur Jail in Patna to be produced before the court of the third additional district and session judge of Deoghar, was killed after three bullets were pumped into him from close range while he waiting for his lawyer under the custody of four policemen.
“Prima facie, it appears that the murder links are tied to Bihar as the deceased was wanted in several murder and kidnapping cases in Jharkhand and in Bihar,” Jat said.
