Overnight rains trigger landslides in Mandi-Poonch, one killed

JAMMU: A truck driver died and around four shops were damaged in landslides triggered by heavy rains in Mandi area of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Police sources said a landslide hit the remote belt of Mandi in Poonch following overnight rains. They said around four mudhouses were damaged and a truck was buried under the debris of the landslide.
Locals and police rushed to launch a rescue operation and pressed JCB machines into service. The truck driver rescued from the debris was shifted to the Sub District Hospital Mandi where he succumbed to his injuries.
