Colleges get 720 online forms; many still in offline mode

Two days after II PU results were announced, the admission hustle has begun in city colleges. While 720 applications for admission to UG courses were submitted online in the state till Monday afternoon, many colleges are accepting offline forms for the time being. According to a government order issued last week, students have to apply to various colleges through the UUCMS (Unified University and College Management System) portal. They have to enter their personal details (most of which will be fetched by the system when they enter PU registration number), colleges and courses they wish to apply for. However, as on Monday, only 650 of the 2,900 colleges in the state were accessible on the portal. This is because the affiliation process of the other institutions is still under way. Unless the nod comes from the respective universities, colleges are not bound to start the official admission process.
