CM urges Modi to scrap armed forces job scheme

Jaipur: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to drop Agnipath scheme while respecting the anger and feelings of the youths in the country. While talking to the mediapersons on Sunday on the sidelines of the Tiranga Yatra, Gehlot reiterated his stand that the scheme has been introduced in a hurry without consulting the real stakeholders is a reason youths are against it.
“The retired army officers have rejected the scheme. They have been saying in one voice that this scheme is not in the interest of the country. The government should make a decision quickly and remove it,” said Gehlot. The yatra was flagged off by Gehlot at Shaheed Smarak which moved into the city holding national flags presenting a united face of the party.
Other than Gehlot, PCC chief Govind Singh Dotasra, MLAs including Pratap Singh Khachariyawas, Rafeek Khan and Ameen Kagzi were present at the rally.
While addressing the gathering, Dotasra said, “Congress is united in facing the onslaught by the BJP against our leader Rahul Gandhi. The misuse of law enforcement agencies is nothing but an attempt to kill democracy and political system in the country.”
Khan told the media that Congress leaders from the state will face the bullets and batons of the Delhi police to save democracy and their leader from the fascist regime of PM Narendra Modi.
Congress will start its series of protests at the block level on Monday. Gehlot Delhi in the evening to participate in the Congress party’s protest of the ED summons. Senior leaders have told the district leaders to be on stand-by as they will be called to Delhi in case the questioning of ED continues.
