Nagpur: Two constables of Kapil Nagar police station, deployed as beat marshals, nabbed a dreaded criminal who tried to flee after abandoning his vehicle. The goon, identified as Shaikh Sameer Ahmed, was arrested after a dramatic chase on Saturday.
Beat marshals Sanju Bhushanam and Sachin Dhole chased Ahmed, who was trying to flee in a car bearing Amravati's registration number.
Ahmed had seven offences, including murder, against him and was wanted in several cases. The high court had debarred him from entering the city while granting bail in a case. His brother was shot at around a fortnight ago but had survived.
As the cops followed Ahmed’s car, he decided to flee after abandoning it. Bhushanam and Dhole continued to chase him until they had zeroed in on the accused.
Ahmed barged inside a house when the cops tried to nab him. He tried to escape by jumping down inside another house but the constables ensured he was nabbed with the help of residents.
