Appointments of chief justices of Delhi, 5 other high courts notified

NEW DELHI: The government on Sunday notified the appointments of the chief justices of six high courts — Delhi, Rajasthan, Gauhati, Uttarakhand, Telangana and Himachal Pradesh.
According to the law ministry notification, the chief justice of Telangana HC, Justice Satish Chandra Sharma has been appointed as the chief justice of Delhi high court.
In the five other cases, HC judges have been elevated as chief justices. Justice Vipin Sanghi from Delhi HC has been appointed as the chief justice of Uttarakhand HC; Justice Amjad A Sayed of Bombay HC as chief justice of Himachal Pradesh HC; Justice SS Shinde of Bombay HC as chief justice of Rajasthan HC; Justice Rashmin M Chhaya from Gujarat HC elevated as chief justice of Gauhati HC.
Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, who is currently a judge in Telangana HC, was elevated as chief justice there. His parent high court is Gauhati. The Delhi HC had been without a regular chief justice after Justice DN Patel retired. Justice Sanghi had been the acting CJ since March 13. These names were recommended by the Supreme Court collegium last month.
