The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has traced alleged illegal properties in tune of around ₹150 crore of Saigal Hossain, the personal guard of Trinamool Congress Birbhum district president Anubrata Mondal. Hossain was arrested on June 9 in connection with the multi-crore cattle scam.

The CBI has reportedly traced several apartments in different parts of the state, houses, a number of under construction apartments, petrol pumps, resorts and dumper depot-related business, which is in tune of ₹150 crore, sources told ET.

The court had asked for a detailed seizure list to be submitted to it during the next hearing. "Hossain, who was a constable and personal guard of Anubrata Mondal, allegedly ran an extortion racket which extracted money. The extortion racket included 14 members and also had several politicians," CBI sources said. Earlier, several houses, including apartments in New Town, huge amounts of gold and lands were allegedly traced by the central agency during the probe. The allegations against Hossain include acquiring property in his name which is disproportionate to his known sources of income.
