Maharashtra: Covid cases gradually rise to 125 across Marathwada

The region had 14 active case on June 1
AURANGABAD: The total number of active Covid cases in Marathwada gradually increased to 125 by Sunday morning.
While the region, comprising eight districts, had only 14 active cases on June 1, the rise in new cases has prompted authorities to call for precautionary measures.
As per official data, Aurangabad district, including the municipal limits, has the maximum 46 active cases followed by Latur district (31), Osmanabad (12), Parbhani and Hingoli (10 each), Nanded (8), Jalna (7) and Beed (1). Out of these total active cases in Marathwada, as many as 95 are under home-isolation.
While the average daily positivity rate of Marathwada is still as low as 0.75%, the health authorities said precautionary measures are a must to contain further spread of the infection.
“The rise in Covid cases underlines the need for Covid Appropriate Behaviour. Mass vaccination is the key in the fight against the pandemic and all target beneficiaries must get Covid vaccination, including precautionary doses,” an official from divisional health department said.
Marathwada has so far reported 7,01,830 Covid cases since March 2020. Of these, 6,85,570 patients have recovered while 16,135 have died.
