Maharashtra: Youth drowns in Khadkepada pond near Mumbra

THANE: A 18-year-old youth is feared drowned in a pond at the Khadkepada pond near Mumbra after he went swimming Monday evening, civic officials informed.
The incident was reported 4pm after locals alerted the police and the fire brigade who rushed to the spot in Khardi village. Locals informed the police that the youth, a resident of Shilphata had entered the murky waters with a friend but didn’t return following which a search operation was launched.
“We immediately searched for the boy but he was not traceable till late Monday evening following which we had to suspend our search operation and will resume it tomorrow morning,” informed a civic rescue official.
