NEW DELHI: Delhi government’s portal for providing financial incentives for the purchase of electric cycles will go live on Wednesday. Earlier this month, the government had approved the first list of e-cycle models that would be eligible for a subsidy of Rs 5,500, under its electric vehicles policy.
An additional incentive of Rs 2,000 was promised to the first 1,000 individual consumers.
From four models of passenger e-cycles and one cargo e-cycle, the number of approved models has gone up to 11 and that of cargo e-cycles to two.
Ashish Kundra, principal secretary-cum-transport commissioner, Delhi government, told TOI that the portal for applying for this subsidy has been updated and would go live on June 22. He said that the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and e-cycle dealers would be provided details for logging on the portal on Monday, given that the application for the incentive would be done by the dealer on behalf of the consumer after the sale of an e-cycle. The incentive will be credited to the consumer in 7-10 working days in their Aadhaar-linked bank account.
The e-cycles will not have registration plates, but the transport department will provide a unique number to each e-cycles sold, which would help in accessing the battery number, model, etc. The dealers will have to update all details on the portal, including the stock they have with them, Kundra said.
The models that have been approved as eligible under the Delhi EV policy include five models of Hero Lectro, which have a range of 28.5-45km and cost between Rs 23,499 and Rs 47,499. The prices of the e-cycles are after application of both the financial incentives.
There are two models of Nexzu Mobility Ltd with a range of 27.8-50km priced at Rs 26,481 and Rs. 38,185, respectively. Stryder Cycle Private Ltd has two models with a range of 24km and will cost between Rs 24,495 and Rs 26,995. Motovolt Mobility Private Ltd has three e-cycles on offer, with a range varying between 21.6km and 43.2km and priced between Rs 25,629 and Rs 29,880.
The cargo e-cycles have a range of 52.7km to 57.6km and the prices range between Rs 29,101 and Rs 34,999 after taking into account the applicable purchase incentive of up to Rs. 15,000 per e-cycle. Delhi government also offers an additional incentive of Rs 3,000 on the scrapping of old ICE vehicles, subject to a matching contribution by the manufacturer.
