Assam: Council may miss June 20 deadline to announce Class XII board results

GUWAHATI: It is most likely that the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) will miss its deadline of June 20 for declaring the results of the Class XII board exams.
Last month, AHSEC had assured a delegation of the All Assam Students’ Union (Aasu) that the Class XII state board results would be declared by June 20.
But sources said the deadline is unlikely to be honoured by the board and the reason for the delay is an internal issue and has got nothing to do with the floods crippling the state.
AHSEC chairperson, Rukma Gohain Barua, told TOI that the council is not in a position to declare immediately when the results would be announced.
“The results will be delayed. It’s not possible to declare the results on June 20,” Barua said.
Barua informed that the council has over 80 subjects and it is not possible to declare the results in a hurry. “We are still trying our best to declare the results before CBSE,” the AHSEC chairperson said.
In Assam, around 2.15 lakh students sat for the Class XII board exam in March-April.
