In last of 20 audio clips, Peter Mukerjea tries to pacify his son

Sheena Bora
MUMBAI: In the last of 20 audio clips of phone conversations played before special CBI court on Saturday, Peter Mukerjea attempted to pacify his son Rahul, who repeatedly expressed his desire to speak to his fiancée Sheena Bora.
Towards the end of the clip, in a lighter moment, in the ‘June 2012’ conversation, Peter suggested that his younger son catch the then latest flick, Vicky Donor, directed by his ‘good friend’ Soojit Sirkar. “You must see it,” Peter urged Rahul. The father and son went on to to discuss the film. Identifying voices as those of his father and himself, Rahul continued to depose as the 69th witness in the trial in the 2012 murder of Sheena. Rahul said at point he was in his native place, Dehradun, and Peter must have been in England.
Meanwhile, the court expressed concern over Indrani intentions to cross-examine Rahul herself. Her plea will be decided on Wednesday. The court explained to Indrani that it was her constitutional right to have legal assistance and that she already had a lawyer on record. Indrani’s lawyer Sana Raees Khan said she had no objection to her client cross-examining Rahul.
Earlier in the audio clip, Peter tells Rahul, “Shall I just tell you something? It is not in my capacity to make that happen . I don’t think she wants to speak to you, is what I understand...Atleast not at this stage. So…That is my honest, sincere you know guidance to you is to let her take her time, figure it out, when she comes out of her shell or whatever to talk to you,” Peter told Rahul.
The father went on to explain that Sheena may or may not take days, weeks or months. Attempting to convince Rahul about his best intentions. Rahul responded, “…I have reached a point I have realized that there is nothing more... My head would explode over, you know I would just die.”
Sheena was allegedly murdered on April 24, 2012, by Indrani, ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamvar Rai but it came to light only in 2015. Sheena is Indrani’s daughter from an earlier relationship. Peter was allegedly part of the murder conspiracy. CBI had alleged that Peter and then wife, Indrani had misled Rahul, so the matter of Sheena’s disappearance would not be pursued by him.
Rahul had recorded the phone conversations between Peter, Indrani and him and revolved around Sheena’s “disappearance”. He had said he had started suspecting Indrani and so recorded phone conversations.
After another audio clip was played in court, Rahul said Indrani said that she had last seen Sheena at 9.15 am on April 24, 2012. Rahul added that Indrani also said the same evening after he had dropped Sheena at Amarson’s Bandra, she bought a saree for her daughter and later had drinks at Land’s End before dropping her back to Amarson’s. Indrani denied they went to Royal China.
