BENGALURU: Former minister M Raghupathy, who was education minister in the Ramakrishna Hegde-led government, passed away on Saturday after prolonged illness. He was 81.
Representing Shivajinagar and Malleswaram assembly constituencies, he had introduced free uniforms in state-run schools, barring minority institutions, in 1985, and free textbooks for government school children.
The final rites will be performed on Sunday morning, his family said.
