Two PU students drown in river

Mysuru: Two minor PU students who had gone for a swim at Lakshmitheertha River drowned on Friday afternoon near Kamegowdanahalli in Hunsur taluk of the district.
Police have identified the deceased as Sharath Rao and Shashikumar, both 17 years and residents of Heggandur village of Hunsur taluk. They drowned due to the strong undercurrents of the river.
The teens who were studying second PU at Hanagodu Pre-University College were awaiting the exam results, which were announced on Saturday.
Hunsur Rural Police, fire, and emergency services department personnel rushed to the spot. They were able to fish out the body of Shashikumar only on Friday evening. They fished out another body of Sharath Rao on Saturday afternoon.
A case related to this has been registered at Hunsur Rural Police Station.
