Agnipath Scheme Protest News Live: Defence minister Rajnath Singh is currently meeting with the three service chiefs in Delhi. The Indian Air Force on Sunday released details of the new Agnipath recruitment scheme. The government announced key reservations in several key areas for recruits of the Agnipath scheme, Agniveers, but the same was yet to cut ice with the protesters, mostly defence aspirants who are majorly upset about the short-term contractual nature of the recruitment scheme.

Taking a swipe at the government amid ongoing protests against the new military recruitment plan 'Agnipath', Asaduddin Owaisi asked how many protesters' homes will be razed by bulldozers now.
What is the stance of the protesters?
The protesters say the plan will limit opportunities for permanent jobs with the defence forces, which guarantee fixed salaries, pensions and other benefits. They want the government to roll back the scheme with immediate effect.

Here are key things to know about IAF Agniveers
1. IAF Agniveers will wear a distinctive insignia on their uniform during the period of engagement.
2.Agniveers will not be released at their own request before the completion of four years, except in exceptional cases, with the approval of the competent authority.
3.The IAF will maintain a centralised high-quality online database of Agniveers. Skills attained by teh Agniveers will be recorded and assessed.
4. IAF Agniveers will get 30 leaves per year and other sick leaves based on medical advice.
5. A dedicated Agniveer Corpus Fund will be created which will not lapse. Each Agniveer will contribute 30% of this income to this fund. The government will provide an interest rate equivalent to the Public Provident Fund.
6. Agniveers will be entitled to honours and awards.

The MHA said 10 per cent job vacancies will be reserved for recruitment in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and the Assam Rifles for "Agniveers". It further said it will give a three-year age relaxation to "Agniveers", beyond the prescribed upper-age limit, for recruitment in the CAPFs and the Assam Rifles.
